An 18th-century country house located on the outskirts of Stoke and nearby World of Wedgwood has been put on the market for £3.5 million.
Barlaston Hall, which is located on Queen Mary’s Drive, is a Grade-I listed property that comes with a Bridgerton-like quality to it.
Surrounding the building are eight and a half acres of grounds. Within the grounds, there are lush lawns, stables, paddocks, and even a deconsecrated 12th-century church.
Inside the property, there’s a total of 10 bedrooms, in addition to a large entrance hall, dining room, and reception rooms. There’s also a Chinese Chippendale staircase.
The home – which has planning permission for a swimming pool and leisure suite – is being sold by Jackson-Stops Alderley Edge.
The property was built between 1756 and 1758 and was designed by the architect Sir Robert Taylor. It was built for Thomas Mills who was a local lawyer.
The Wedgewood pottery company purchased the property in 1937. However, the building fell into disrepair throughout the 20th century and lay in a ruinous state by the 1980s.
Save Britain’s Heritage later purchased the building and restoration work was carried out during the 1990s.
It has changed times several times since then and was last sold for £2 million.
