A large fire, believed to have started early this morning, has sent black smoke across Cannock. The Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are currently on site with 10 fire engines to extinguish the blaze.
The fire is contained to one warehouse located near Orbital Island. Super Smart Services, a distribution company, owns the unit in question. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. One X user described hearing a “series of explosions” before the fire started.
Businesses in the surrounding area have been evacuated and the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service have encouraged residents of Cannock to keep their windows and doors closed.
Several road closures remain in place throughout Cannock. However, rail services are running as normal.
The black plume of smoke is reportedly visible within a 20-mile radius. Several social media users have reported that they can see the smoke from as far as Tamworth.
