The Staffordshire Commissioner has announced that Stone police will now be based in the town’s Community Fire Station.
A new specially equipped room will be made at the station which the police can use while on shift.
Commissioner Ben Adams stated that this move would allow the police and the fire services to work together. It will also quicken police deployment time to the town centre.
“Making the most effective use of Stone’s modern, purpose-built facilities not only makes operational sense, allowing the two emergency services to work more closely together locally, but also makes the best use of resources and therefore public money,” he stated.
Similar plans have already been implemented in Kinver and Penkridge. Plans to unite services in both Uttoxeter and Kidsgrove are currently being progressed.
