The family-run Richard Winterton Auctioneers are opening a new cafe in Lichfield’s city centre.
This venue, which will be located at 34 to 36 Market Street, will serve coffee and cake and also offer in-house valuations of jewellery, antiques, and other valuables.
The grade-II listed building in which the cafe will be located is found a few yards away from the original Winterton office, which opened on Breadmarket Street 160 years ago in 1864. The valuation cafe is being opened to celebrate this anniversary.
Managing director Richard Winterton stated: “This will be a brilliant central location in Lichfield for people to come and have their jewellery, watches, silver and antiques valued whilst checking out a range of brilliant beverages and choice cakes.”
He continued: “We’ll be revealing more about our plans in the coming weeks and months but right now we are actively looking for a manager and members of staff to run this exciting new offering in the city centre.”
Richard’s sons, James, Ben, Harry, and Tom, are all part of the family business and will assist in the opening of this new venture.
The Lichfield Auction Centre in Fradley Park will remain the HQ of the business. The auctioneers also opened another auction house in Tamworth in 2021.
