Work started yesterday (8 July) on Tamworth Borough Council’s £400,000 project to replace low-rise block front doors to meet new fire safety regulations. The new doors installed will meet current levels of safety standards.
The project, which is being delivered in partnership with Wates the housing contractor, is part of the council’s wider safety improvement scheme. Later in the year, more improvements will be made to kitchens, bathrooms, and windows in low-rise council homes.
“This investment of over £400k from Tamworth Borough Council, is essential to make sure we improve and maintain our low-rise homes to a high standard,” stated Councillor Ben Clarke who is the Portfolio Holder for Housing, Homelessness and Planning.
He also stated: “We want every resident to feel safe and secure in their homes, and this programme supports this.”
