The owners of Tamworth Tap have been honoured with Freedom of the Borough by Tamworth Council.
George and Louise Greenway were “flabbergasted” by the award, which will be given to them at a future presentation.
According to Tamworth Council, George and Louise had been selected “in recognition of their entrepreneurship, innovation, and championship for Tamworth.”
The couple founded the Tamworth Tap Brewing Company in 2017 and opened the pub in a 16th-century building located right next to Tamworth Castle.
The view of the castle provided by the Tamworth Tap and the wide range of real ales that they stock make it a must-visit for tourists and locals alike.
The Tap has won various awards over the years and has been awarded Pub of the Year on two occasions by the Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA).
The Honorary Freedom of the Borough award is given to anyone who provides exceptional services to Tamworth over an extended period of time.
Alderman Frederick George Alton was the first-ever recipient of the award in 1951.
