Tamworth Borough Council hopes to have repair work on the bandstand, located within the grounds of Tamworth Castle, completed by August.
Vandals damaged the bandstand in October 2023. The repair project initially started in April 2024 and was originally expected to only take twelve weeks.
However, upon further inspection, it was determined that more repair work was needed.
Ben Clarke, who is the councilor responsible for the repair work planning, stated that the full extent of the damage wasn’t known until “the structure was opened up,” which exposed “parts of the structure that were not previously accessible”.
Tamworth Borough Council has stated that the project will cost them £107,000.
Specifically, the joists, timbers, and floorboards all need to be replaced.
