New Urban Era (Nue), a Tamworth-based arts group, has received £56,000 worth of funding from Arts Council England. This funding, which the group described as “generous”, will go towards putting on music events, art galleries, and workshops in Tamworth.
The money will also cover this year’s Art of Tamworth projects, which include a music festival on 21 July at North Warwickshire Recreational Centre.
Throughout the summer, Nue will run beatboxing, breakdancing, and spray paint art workshops for those under 17.
7-8 September will see a two-day festival, Art of Tamworth, taking place in town, with workshops, street art, and trapeze performances. Nue’s Beatbox Finals will take place 20-21 September.
The team will then oversee the We Are Angels project at Tamworth Castle. This will include performances from community groups and artists, as well as an impressive light display projected across the castle.
Nue also plans to use part of the funding received to pay professional artists to decorate bush shelters throughout Tamworth.
