Steampunk Fairytale Weekend will be held for the first time at Tutbury Castle this weekend (18-19 May) with races, costume competitions, and markets planned.
The event will run from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Adult tickets are £20, child tickets are £10, and under-5’s tickets are £1.
The festival, which is organised by the Ministry of Steampunk, will also celebrate the rich Tudor history of Tutbury Castle.
The castle will be open and incorporated into festival events. Monster hunts will take place in and around the castle grounds.
Entertainment will be provided by the Steampunk Choir of Notorious Excellence, the Belly Fusion Dance Collective, the Cogkneys, and the Brass Brothers.
On Saturday, Lesley Smith, famed for her costumed portrayals of historical characters, will be performing as Elizabeth I.
The castle’s tearoom will be open throughout the festival to provide refreshments for guests. There will also be several pop-up catering options available as well as a fully-licensed bar.
This will be the festival’s third edition, having been held in 2022 and 2023 at Belvoir Castle in Grantham. Tickets can be found here.
