Play @ Lower Drayton Farm has received funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to carry out a £500,000 expansion of their family-friendly business.
With the funding secured, the family farm attraction, which is near Penkridge, is set to expand its play barn, increase its capacity, and employ new members of staff.
Currently, the 2,000 sqm working farm features an extensive indoor play area, with racing slides, climbing walls, and a four-storey play frame. There are also outdoor activities, which include zipwires, go-karts, and a farm animal petting area.
The farm, which welcomed over 125,000 people in 2023, has become a favourite for Staffordshire family days out as well as for school educational visits.
The planned expansion project will see an adjacent agricultural building used to increase the size of the current play area and cafe. More event space will also be created and sensory play areas, quiet zones, and additional toilet and baby changing facilities will also be added.
The venue currently employs 67 people. In preparation for the expansion, Lower Drayton Farm will take on four new managers as well as additional seasonal staff.
Work is set to take place in several phases throughout the rest of 2024 and be completed by Christmas.
