The first Hickory’s Smoke House in Staffordshire is due to open in Kingsway, Stafford this winter.
The brand, which describes itself as a “small but perfectly formed group of authentic barbecue-style restaurants”, has already successfully opened 22 smokehouses throughout England since 2010.
Hickory’s menu highlights include its steak, southern fried chicken, and milkshakes.
The restaurant chain, which is owned by Greene King, will open its new venue on the site of the current King’s Horse Pub and Carvery.
The King’s Horse Pub, which is also owned by Greene King, will remain open until the summer. A spokesperson for the company stated that the pub will close “later in the summer” so that extensive renovation work can begin.
The King’s Horse staff have been offered new jobs at the smokehouse. While the renovation work is being carried out, they will be transferred to alternative Greene King venues.
No official opening date has been announced yet.
