A pub located in the Peak District town of Alstonefield is set to go under the hammer next week.

The George, a popular gastropub, will appear at Bond Wolfe’s next auction with a guide price of £645,000. The auction will take place at 8.30am on Thursday 11 July.

The pub is popular amongst both hikers and tourists, being situated close to Thor’s Cave and Peak Wildlife Park. The George is also surrounded by several prominent towns such as Leek, Buxton, and Ashbourne.

The venue has received glowing reviews on TripAdvisor where it currently holds a rating of 4/5. It has also been listed in both the Michelin Guide as well as the Good Food Guide. Last year, it received three AA Rosettes.

The property includes a large lounge bar, a restaurant dining area, store rooms, toilets, a commercial kitchen, a car park, and a huge beer garden.

There’s also a two-storey stone outbuilding. This has previously been used as a function room as well as for storage.

The managing director of Bond Wolfe James Mattin stated: “We are thrilled to be offering a beloved local, a traditional village pub in the heart of its community, in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.”

He continued: “The George is set on 0.6 acres with a separate detached stone barn that is suitable for alternative use or development, subject to obtaining the necessary planning consents.”
