Staffordshire Police have warned that bikers face having their vehicle seized if they continue to ride in Tickhill Quarry, Caverswall.
This comes after the police have received several reports of bikers riding in the quarry in an anti-social manner.
Residents say that the quarry bikers have caused distress, damage, and disruption.
The Moorlands local policing team problem-solving lead PC Fenton stated: “Officers are carrying out increased patrols to deter those who choose to ride off-road illegally and pose a danger to themselves and others in the quarry and on a nearby bridle path.”
They continued: “Quarries are not play areas, or race tracks. They pose a threat to motorcyclists and quad-bikers. Hazards include sheer faces and the risk of falling, loose rocks and cold, deep water.”
A section 59 notice has been put in place in the area, meaning that officers have the right to seize vehicles being used in the quarry.
Staffordshire Police also highlighted that mobile phone signal is weak in the area. If an accident were to occur, the weak signal may prevent calls from being made to emergency services.
