Pro-Palestine campaigners returned to UAV Engines in Shenstone yesterday morning (1 August) to protest against the factory.
UAV Engines, which is located on Lynn Lane, allegedly produces drone engines used by Israel’s army. Palestine campaigners have regularly protested outside this factory over the last few years.
During the latest protest, factory gates were damaged, red paint was splattered against the building, and Palestine flags were unfurled around the perimeter of the factory.
In response, Staffordshire Police were forced to arrest six individuals.
A 42-year-old man from Kent, a 30-year-old woman from Bristol, a 21-year-old woman from London, a 21-year-old woman from Bangor, and another woman were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
Another 21-year-old woman from Newcastle-upon-Tyne was arrested for the same offence in addition to conspiring to destroy or damage property.
Officers received a call regarding the protest at 6.10am on Thursday and travelled to ensure the safety of factory workers and community members.
Staffordshire Police stated: “We worked to balance the rights to peaceful protest against the rights of those affected by it.”
