Four men have been sentenced to a total of 54 years in prison for the pre-planned attack and kidnapping of two men in Newcastle-under-Lyme on 19 December 2022.

Dovydas Smilginis (34), of no fixed address, was sentenced to 14 years.

Egidijus Savickas (29), of Bootle, was sentenced to 14 years.

Mohamed Nasar (41), of Birmingham, was sentenced to 12 years and seven months.

Modestas Stokus (32), of Dudley, was sentenced to 12 years and seven months.

Each of the four men was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday (4 June).

The 2022 attacks started when Stokus picked up the victims and drove them to Meadow Street. There, Nasar, Savickas, and Smilginis were waiting.

The victims were then dragged out of the vehicle. They were then bound with duct tape and interrogated. The gang used knives, bats, and pepper spray on the victims.

Later, as the gang were forcing the victims into the boots of two cars, one victim successfully broke free and called for help.

Both victims sustained serious injuries from the attack. One suffered from serious bruising to the head, shoulder, and face.

The other victim had to spend two months in hospital having suffered from stab wounds, extensive bruising, and broken limbs. He also contracted sepsis and suffered from kidney failure.
