Jane Harding (55) had served as the chief executive of North Staffs Carers Association for 19 years before petty cash discrepancies led to her being fired for thievery.
Harding later pleaded guilty to stealing £945.55 from the charity between 29 May 2019 and 15 December 2021. She reportedly spent this money on a TV and a barbeque.
Harding was able to take the money by requesting members of staff who controlled petty cash to sign blank slips which she later filled out.
Discrepancies came to light in October 2021. The chair of the organisation then launched an investigation which found Harding to be responsible. She was then dismissed from her post.
The former boss, who lives on George Steel Avenue in Bucknall, has since pleaded guilty to the crime.
There is a possibility that Harding could now face jail time. Her sentencing will take place on 16 September.
