Universal Fitness, a fitness group based in Fenton, has announced that they’ve raised £17,500 for the Wendy Jones Trust by completing a series of impressive fundraising activities.
This included skiing 100,000 metres in 6 hours and 29 minutes, which earned the group a place in the Guinness World Records.
The Wendy Jones Trust is a local charity dedicated to supporting children in the local area. This includes providing essentials, sports equipment, school clothing, safety items, and other essentials.
“We are deeply grateful to Universal Fitness and everyone who contributed to this incredible donation,” stated Simon Harrison of the Wendy Jones Trust.
In addition to the skiing challenge, members of Universal Fitness also partook in a 24-hour bikeathon. This involved them cycling non-stop for an entire day.
They also climbed Snowdon, with some of the participants doing so in Crocs.
Callum Eckersley, the founder of Universal Fitness, stated in a press release: “We are incredibly proud of our members and the local community for their generous contributions.”
He continued: “Our goal has always been to uplift and support our community, not just through physical fitness but also by fostering a spirit of generosity and care. The Wendy Jones Trust does remarkable work, and we are honoured to support its mission. This cause holds special significance for us as Wendy Jones, who tragically passed away from pancreatic cancer, was the beloved sister of one of our long-term members.”
