The Etruria Canals Festival will take place this weekend on Saturday 1 June and Sunday 2 June. The festivities will take place at Etruria Industrial Museum in Stoke-on-Trent and its surrounding canals.
This year, the festival will celebrate 50 years since the reopening of the Caldon Canal, hence why the theme is ‘Caldon Calling’.
The centenary will be marked with boats, beer, and entertainment. The Fetch Theatre Company will be running a ‘Caldon Creatures’ puppet-making workshop in addition to organising a puppet procession around Shirley’s 1857 Potters’ Mill.
Between 11.00am and 5.00pm, visitors can admire a range of narrow boats which will be moored along Caldon Canal.
The festival will also include street food and beer tents, children’s games and activities, and blacksmith demonstrations.
The event, which is organised by the Etruria Industrial Museum, is free to enter. However, guests will be charged to enter Shirley’s Bone and Flint Mill.
