The Cherry Tree

The Cherry Tree is a great option if you’re looking for quality pub grub and a vibrant and lively setting. This pub is located on London Road and is the perfect pitstop if you’re heading into the town centre for some nightlife. 

The menu features everything you’d expect from a modern bar menu. This includes chicken wings, fish and chips, and burgers. There are also plenty of unexpected additions to the menu, including ale pies, lamb keema, falafel flatbread, and Mediterranean seabass. They also do a plant-based fish and chips which is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. 

There’s a beer garden for al fresco dining and drinking and plenty of TVs inside. If you’re looking for refreshments, food, and a place to watch football or rugby, you can find all three at the Cherry Tree! 

Amore Italian Restaurants

If you’re looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in Newcastle-under-Lyme, you have to pay a visit to Amore on Pepper Street. It is led by head chef Francesco who was originally born in the Southern Italian town of Calabria. He learned Italian home cooking from a young age before moving to Rome to learn how to become a professional chef. After training under several Michelin star chefs, Francesco moved to England in 2009 and opened the Amore restaurant in Newcastle.  

Open exclusively for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday, Amore offers guests the very best soups, salads, pasta, homemade bread, and cakes you’re likely to find in the town. Choose between mouthwatering Tagliatelle alla Boscaiola, Gnocchi ai funghi e Gorgonzola, and Pasta Salmone for your main. Vegetarian and vegan pasta dishes are also available.

Peaches Restaurant 

Newcastle-under-Lyme has a wide selection of Chinese restaurants, however, Peaches Restaurant on Silverdale Road probably offers the widest and best selection of Chinese delicacies.

The Gatehouse 

Another top bar-bistro option, the Gatehouse is a great place to eat, drink, socialise, and watch sports. Located south of the city centre, the Gatehouse is one of the best options if you’re staying near Springfields or Westbury Park. 

In the Gatehouse, you’ll find a great selection of European and British lagers, as well as some local ales and an extensive wine selection. In terms of meals, the Gatehouse puts an interesting twist on pub classics. Menu highlights include chicken and ham pie, hot honey halloumi flatbread, salt and pepper chilli chicken, and Whitby scampi and chips. 

There’s a quiz night held every Wednesday; there are also pool tables and live sports shown throughout the week. 

Banarasi 

One of the latest additions to Newcastle’s food scene is Banarasi. Having only opened in May, Banarasi quickly garnered a reputation as an Instagram hotspot. Located on London Road, Banarasi invites guests in with its convivial atmosphere, great food selection, and affordable prices. It specializes in tandoori, curries, and biryani. 

For most of the dishes on the menu, you can choose between chicken, lamb, paneer, mixed meat, and vegetables. There’s also a lasuni shubzi vegan special dish available. Banarasi has probably one of the most extensive menus in the whole of Newcastle-under-Lyme, which makes it nearly impossible to pick out some favourites. However, the large menu does guarantee that there’s something for everyone at this new Indian restaurant. 

There’s no bar at Banarasi, but there is a small selection of soft drinks to choose from. 

The Milehouse 

The Milehouse is the most fancy dining option in the whole of Newcastle-under-Lyme. This restaurant is located inside the historic Milehouse building on Liverpool Road. If you’re looking to enjoy your lunch, dinner, or Sunday roast in elegant surroundings, book a table at the Milehouse. 

Suitable for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans, the Milehouse truly has something for everyone. For meat lovers, there are black Angus steaks and craft burgers to choose from. For vegans, there’s the delicious and inventive beetroot gnocchi.
