The new Institute of Technology (IoT), currently being built in Stafford, will receive a £1 million boost from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) as part of the government’s Levelling Up agenda.
The £22.5 million IoT, located off Castle Street, will offer technical programs and training to students. Employer partners include Dell, Siemens, St Mowden Logistics, and MOOG.
The facility will focus on engineering, construction, manufacturing, and digital skills.
The IoT is being built in collaboration with Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG), Burton and South Derbyshire College, Keele University, and Axia Solutions.
Work on the facility started earlier in 2024 and is expected to be finished in the first half of 2025. The IoT will begin welcoming students in September next year. More than 3,500 students are expected.
The building of this IoT serves as part of the Station Gateway regeneration scheme. New homes, businesses, hotels, and car parks are also planned for the area.
