The George Hotel in Burslem closed yesterday morning (6 June) with immediate effect.
Both staff and guests were asked to leave after it was announced that the company that runs the hotel had gone into liquidation.
Employees were reportedly left devastated by the sudden closure, with some being told that they would not receive pay.
Some of the hotel’s 42 rooms had been occupied by vulnerable people.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council, who had only been made aware of the closure yesterday morning, have contacted those who have been made homeless by the closure and offered alternative accommodation options.
