Stoke-on-Trent City Council have cut the parking charges at the multi-storey Smithfield car park in Hanley from today (7 June).
The 730-space car park, which cost the taxpayer £15 million to build, lost money due to an opening delay. It finally opened in 2022 with high parking charges to make up for losses.
Now, the council have decided to make changes to the car park’s pricing model.
It will now cost £1.50 for one hour, £3 for two hours, £4.50 for three hours, and £6 for four hours.
This is a slight drop from the former prices, which were £1.90 for one hour, £3.20 for two hours, £5 for three hours, and £6.30 for four hours.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council are yet to make a statement regarding this pricing change.
