Man arrested after police officers assaulted and strangled in Stoke

Three Staffordshire police officers were attacked by an individual as they responded to a disturbance report in Stoke-on-Trent. 

Police were called to an address near Corporation Street at 12.20am last Thursday (11 July). 

Two of the police officers were strangled by an individual at the address and another man who was at the scene at the time was also injured. 

The officers attempted to arrest the man but they were thrown to the floor. 

The three officers and the injured man all received treatment in hospital. 

One officer suffered an elbow injury while another sustained a shoulder injury. The third officer, who arrived on the scene later to assist the other two officers, suffered from a sprained ankle. 

A 33-year-old man from Stoke has been arrested and charged with numerous offenses. The offenses include two counts of intentional strangulation, one count of assaulting an emergency worker, and one count of assault.
