A disused building on the Strand could become a drive-through coffee shop.
The new coffee shop will be run by a “main national operator”, according to the developer behind the plan.
Formerly a Lidl, the building in Longton then served as a Mind charity shop until February. Since Mind moved to Longton Exchange, the building has remained empty.
The submitted plans propose demolishing half of the property to make way for a drive-through facility. The other half of the building will be maintained for retail purposes.
Planners are yet to identify an occupier for the second half of the building.
The plans also propose to transform part of the current car park into a 28-bay electric vehicle charging station.
Overall, the changes would make the area “modern” and more “visually attractive”, according to the plans.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council planners will now review the submitted plans. They are expected to decide by 7 August.
