Farmfoods and Nathan’s Premier Angling Centre remain shut weeks after a fire was started in Farmfoods on 23 May.

Today (13 June), Farmfoods remains boarded up and the supermarket chain has directed customers towards their shops in Hanley and Longton.

A survey of the building is still to be carried out and a reopening date is yet to be provided.

Next door, Nathan’s Premier Angling Centre is closed with its shutters down.

A sign on the window states: “Due to the recent fire at the neighbouring property we are currently unable to open to the public. We apologise for the inconvenience this is causing.”

Nathan’s has asked customers to shop at their Nottingham and Derby branches in the meantime.

While other traders were evacuated on the day of the fire, they have been able to reopen their shops.

The 53-year-old John Condliffe was charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
