Four fire engines responded to reports of a fire in the Penkhull area at 1.35am this morning (7 June).

Exact details of how or where the fire occurred are not currently available, but a Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman stated that “crews have now cleared the incident”.

Fire crews from Newcastle, Longton, Hanley, and Burslem all had to be pulled in to tackle the blaze.

Both the West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Police were reportedly at the scene.

At 2.06am, the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service posted a statement on X, which warned people to “avoid the area so crews can bring the incident to a safe conclusion”.

The Fire and Rescue Team will return to the site later today “for further checks”.
