Clayton Wood Training Ground and Academy is set to undergo a major £12m refurbishment now that Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council has granted planning permission.
Work on the team’s training facility will begin in September 2024 and will continue until 2025.
The ground, which is used by Stoke City’s women’s team and as a training academy for the first team, will gain new rehabilitation, nutrition, and sports science facilities.
A premium fan zone will be created, LED floodlights will be added, and Ricardo’s sports bar will be renovated.
This multi-million-pound investment will be the most Stoke City has spent on a single project since the bet365 stadium was built in 1997.
“Once complete, it will elevate our first team facilities to among the best in the Championship and make them fit for Premier League football,” stated vice-chairman Richard Smith.
He continued: “This significant training ground investment is to support the on field ambitions that go hand-in-hand with that.”
