Staffordshire Police searched Robert Sutton Catholic High School yesterday following reports of a ‘bomb threat’.
The school called the police at 8am on Wednesday 1 May after receiving emails from an unidentified individual who threatened to ‘bomb’ the school.
Police responded to the scene promptly and searched the building, which is on Bluestone Lane, Burton-on-Trent. Staffordshire police carried this out to “reassure pupils and staff” and to “make sure the area was safe”, a spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said.
Nothing suspicious was found during the search and police are now labelling the threat as a ‘hoax’.
“There is not believed to be any wider threat to the public at this time” the spokesperson added.
Inquiries are now being carried out to identify the individual behind the emails.
