The Cross Inn Caravan Park is set to be reopened with 44 new static caravans. The site, which is located on Ash Tree Road in Cauldon Lowe, is only a 10-minute drive away from Alton Towers.
The park had been a popular tourist destination since 1995. However, it has been vacant since 2020. Before its closure, the site featured 6 static caravans and a camping area. It also had room for 25 touring caravans.
The Site’s historic pub, the Cross Inn, closed down during the coronavirus pandemic.
Billy Ray Sales Limited had applied to lawfully expand the caravan to feature 44 static caravans. The application was originally granted. However, the council received an objection from a member of the public who deemed the expansion to be “excessive”.
The objector also stated that: “There will be noise and light impact. Also impact to the nature and also attractiveness of the countryside. I strongly object.”
The expansion has since been ruled a “lawful development” and plans to build the 44 new caravans are set to go ahead.
It is hoped that this development will positively impact tourism in the Cauldon Lowe area.
