Five people have been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in Stoke-on-Trent earlier this week.
Police arrested three 17-year-olds, a 19-year-old and a 22-year-old in connection with the incident which happened on November 7.
A 17-year-old student is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in a Shelton street in Stoke-on-Trent.
The victim, from Trentham, was found in a pool of blood in Boughey Road, and had been stabbed three times.
A homeless man broke into his parents’ home in Trentham and stole more than £1,000 worth of goods while they were on holiday, a court heard.
He said: “Jazmin Sawyers, Steph Twell and Lee Emanuel, all European medallists who should be looking to make a statement of intent for 2017 by repeating those performances and finishing on the podium in Belgrade.”
Sawyers herself took to Twitter to speak of her delight about the call up saying: “So happy and excited to be picked for the European indoor champs!! Belgrade, see you soon!”
Big-hearted pupils at a Stoke-on-Trent high school are doing their bit to help the city’s homeless residents.
Students at Discovery Academy, in Fenton, have launched the ‘Shiver Shelter’ scheme to help raise money for night shelters in their area.
Nine young athletes from Stoke-on-Trent will benefit from £15,000 of European City of Sport funding to boost their sporting ambitions.
They will receive funding for training and competing in their chosen sports from the Talented Athlete Support Scheme.
