Running from the 4th-10th February, the week hopes to make people who have been affected by Sexual Violence more comfortable in coming forward and seeking help from services across Stoke-on-Trent.
The number of sex offences in Stoke-on-Trent has risen by 23% in the last year, latest figures show.
Police statistics show these type offences increased from 677 in 2014/15 to 834 reported cases in 2015/16.
A new Victim’s Code has been welcomed by Staffordshire’s Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner.
The system will allow victims of crime to tell courts and offenders how a crime has affected them and this will be taken into consideration by judges when sentencing – something which has previously not happened.
