Vanarama National League side, Chester have signed goalkeeper, Sam Hornby on a month’s loan from Port Vale.

Following his arrival in the summer at Vale Park under former manager Michael Brown, the 22-year old has struggled, only managing a handful of appearances.

Port Vale boss Neil Aspin says he cannot put a date on the return of defender Adam Yates after he suffered a catalogue of injuries in a collision with goalkeeper Sam Hornby in a reserve match with Morecambe on Tuesday.

Yates missed the entirety of last season due to a cruciate knee ligament injury, and the Werrington born right-back is now expected to face a similar spell on the sidelines.

Port Vale defender Anthony Kay has revealed that he was never consulted over the club’s captaincy change, but insists it will not change his style on the pitch.

The 35-year-old, who joined The Valiants in the summer from League One side Bury, was handed the captaincy before the beginning of the season by former boss Michael Brown.
