Plans to spend £1.6 million on North Staffordshire’s mental health services have been welcomed by Stoke-on-Trent South MP Jack Brereton.

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS trust will be equipped with a new Urgent Care Centre, Detoxification Suites, and Crisis Cafes as part of the government’s £1 billion capital investment scheme.

Newcastle-under-Lyme MP Paul Farrelly has hit out at the government over pension changes which leave hundreds of thousands of women out of pocket.

A rise in the state pension age for women from 60 to 65, phased in between 2010 and 2020, was included in the Pensions Act 1995 – however 2011 the then Conservative-Lib Dem coalition brought forward the 65 age for women to 2018.

John Boy Hamer, 40, was due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to 15 offences of conspiracy to defraud.
