Volunteers at a much-loved railway in Newcastle-under-Lyme are celebrating after they were given a £10,000 National Lottery grant.

Moseley Railway Trust, which runs Apedale Valley Light Railway in Apedale Country Park, Chesterton, plan to use the grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop a World War One exhibit.

Staffordshire Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis has rejected calls to arm all the county’s officers with Taser guns.

It comes as new figures show officers in Staffordshire fired Tasers 71 times out of 619 incidents involving the stun-guns.
