Crime Careless Crash Collision Investigation Unit

A woman has been sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court today (24th September) of causing death by careless driving following a crash on the 25th June last year.

Emily Doyle-Gibbons, 20, of Warren Drive, Sedgley, was sentenced by Judge James Burbidge QC to a six month custodial sentence, suspended for two years for causing the death of 59-year-old Malcom Aplin, after being found guilty by jury in August of this year.


An eight-year-old boy was injured when he was hit by a car on a school car park in Uttoxeter.

He was involved in a collision with the vehicle outside Picknall First School, on Oldfields Road, but did not suffer serious injuries.


A chimney crashed off the roof of a Stoke-on-Trent house, wrecking a parked car below.

High winds have been blamed on the incident which happened at a student house on Carlton Road, close to Staffordshire University’s College Road campus.
