Stoke-on-Trent students bring community together at Christmas time

Big-hearted students at The Cooperative Academy of Stoke-on-Trent hosted a Christmas lunch for more than 100 guests in a bid to tackle loneliness among the elderly at Christmas time.

According to Age UK, more than two million people in England over the age of 75 live alone, many experiencing extreme isolation and chronic loneliness.

Hundreds attend the funeral of 19 year-old boy killed in Burslem

19-year-old Nathan Bates was found dead in Burslem on October 11th. Today around 700 people attended his funeral at Swan Bank Methodist Church, family and friends alike. The former Co-op Academy student was described as having ‘A heart of Gold’ and was his father’s ‘Pride and joy’. During the service, donations were taken in order to fundraise for the neonatal unit at Royal Stoke University Hospital.
