After back to back games in a space of two days. Shifnal Town travel to Staffordshire to face Cannock United in the Moving Forward Cup.
The Town were successful on Thursday night, beating Ellesmere Rangers on penalties. Former Shifnal Town forward Dave Howarth opened the scoring, Kyle Montague equalising for the Town and scoring the winning penalty to send them through.
Shifnal Town joint managers Danny Carter and Andrew Carrier spoke after the game saying “we’ll be looking after the team” said Carter. “It’s been four games in seven days, the lads have been off for three and a half months” said Carrier.
Carrier spoke about the injuries over the last couple of games “it’s all about looking after them little niggles and we had to do it again tonight and we will do it again ready for Saturday”.
In the last 3 games, the Town have scored 11 goals, conceding only four goals. It will be a tough test for Cannock who compete in their first game of the tournament, looking for their first win against Shifnal in all competitions.
