In light of the loss of captain Matt Coxon in early October Stone have made swift action with the signing of former Durham spinner George Harding and revealed experienced batsman Sam Graham as captain for the 2021 NSSCL campaign.
With the departure of all-rounder Matt Coxon to rivals Porthill Park, Stone have been in search of not only a new captain but a new professional for the upcoming season.
Lleft-armer Harding joins the Priory Road men while club veteran batsman Sam Graham takes over the captaincy of the side from departed Coxon.
Harding’s arrival not only brightens the thought of bringing another premier league title to the priory ground but strengthens the junior systems vastly experienced coaching staff.
meanwhile captain Sam Graham who is a very accomplished batsman with scoring over 4000 runs for the club said “it’s and absolute pleasure to welcome George to stone”
“He’s a player with bags of ability, but above all else a great bloke and I’m sure will be a fantastic addition to not just the team, but the club in general.”
Junior co-ordinator and former first team captain added “Harding is a huge arrival for the club as a whole”
“We had really positive discussions with George and his ideas will hopefully look to improve our already successful junior set up to bring through youngsters into the adult section of the club.
Stone finished the 2020 covid stuck season in 5th place and look to improve with new skipper Graham taking up the reigns at the Priory Road ground.
