Flying High: What’s making Leek Town tick?

With Leek Town FC five points clear at the top of the BetVictor Northern Premier League South East Division, I decided to pay the ST13 outfit a little visit.

The Blues toyed with promotion in the last two seasons, after Neil Baker returned to Harrison Park following 23 years at Crewe Alexandra.

This season also marks 30 years since Baker guided Leek to a league title and FA Trophy Final against Barrow – a famous trip to Wembley Stadium despite the 3-0 loss.

But with motivated players, optimistic volunteers and a rallying community, the Staffordshire Moorlands club could well be on their way up the football pyramid once more.
