How to be an ally to your LGBT friends


According to an analysis of the most recent statistics by The Guardian, LGBT hate crimes, including stalking, harassment and violent assault, have more than doubled in England and Wales.

Earlier this year, an incident in which two women were attacked on a bus in London for refusing to kiss in front of a group of men drew widespread condemnation, but this is far from an isolated incident for many in the LGBT community.

We asked Staffordshire University’s LGBT Network chair Len Stuart and his housemate Isaac Robinson about what people can do to support their friends, relatives and co-workers, helping to make them feel safer in an increasingly unsafe world.
