Staffordshire is full of amazing places and new experiences to explore.  You don’t always have to go too far from home to enjoy yourself; and who knows, the sun might actually make an appearance and give you a nice tan.

Summer is almost here and with the kids nearly on their six weeks school holiday, finding affordable outings and day trips for the summer can be pretty difficult if you don’t know where to start.

But what is there to do in Staffordshire, I hear you ask. Well, we’ve created a list of places and adventures you and your family can enjoy.

Alton Towers

Theme parks are always the go to when we think of what to do with ourselves in the summer. Alton Towers Resort, located in Alton, is the perfect nearby theme park to experience when you want a fun day out with family and friends.

The park is described to be Englands largest theme park because of its 500 acres. If this is not reassurance that you’ll find something to do, then I don’t know what is.

The rides are a fantastic way to get adrenaline rolling and the kids are always excited to try as many rides as they can. Are you brave enough?

Alton Waterpark

It might get really hot this summer and you might be seeking something that looks a lot like a holiday resort. Alton Tower Waterpark, located in Alton, is just that, except it doesn’t really need good wheather as it also has indoor pools!

Swimming is always a great way to get that holiday feel and some much needed family bonding time. It’s also relaxing and very therapeutic as wells as being a lot of fun. I think everyone should have at least gone swimming once this summer. After all, what is summer without a little bit of toe dipping and splashing around?

Get those breast strokes in and race down the long slides, its guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Drayton Manner Theme park

Now I know we’ve already mentioned theme parks, but Drayton Manner is a little different.

The theme park, located in Tamworth, is also a zoo! And who doesn’t like looking at animals all day? If you’re an adrenaline junky and an animal lover, then this is the perfect place for you.

If you have any young children, Drayton manner will also keep them entertained as it is home to Thomas the Tank Engine land along with at least 100 other rides for the whole family.

This seems like the perfect day out because anyone in the family can enjoy and there is lots to do. I don’t know about you, but I love to be spoiled with choices in the summer and Drayton manner seems to be perfect for just that.

Trentham Monkey Forest

Fancy breakfast with a monkey? Trentham monkey forest, in Stoke-on-Trent, is a great way to get the kids excited and explore nature and wildlife. Offering visitors the opportunity to feed the monkeys in the morning and also  spend time with the little friends as much as you want, this could be the highlight of your summer and also a great photo opportunity for the social media lovers.

You can also take a walk in the mile long woodland with the family for some bonding time. The monkey forest has received a lot of good reviews from families, with 1,475 people describing it as ‘excellent’.  It was even voted 11th on 100 things to do in Stoke-on-Trent on trip advisor. The best thing about this Trentham Monkey Forest, is that you can be any age to enjoy the experience.

Snowdome

Maybe you’re not a hot weather type of person and summer leaves you missing the winter. Or maybe you just love snow. Either way, Snowdome is a fun place to take friends and family in the summer just to do something out of the ordinary and exciting.

Snowdome is located in Tamworth and has real snow. You also get to learn exciting new sports. Not to mention it has a children’s snow play area and activities such as skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and more.

If you’re the type of person to enjoy a little adventure than this is definitely one for the books.

Make sure you make the most of this summer and enjoy what Staffordshire has to offer.
