LATEST City arrival Sam Vokes insisted that newly appointed manager Nathan Jones persuaded him to make the switch to the bet365 Stadium.
The 29-year-old looks set to make his Potters debut against Hull City this Saturday. He revealed that speaking with players currently at the club was enough to make him feel at home.
“I spoke to a few of the lads I know here last night and got a feel for what this Club is all about,” said the former Wolverhampton Wanderers marksman.“They were full of praise for the Club and it is a dressing room full of good lads and good players.”
“I have had a few conversations with the manager too and have been impressed by him.
“He is a manager I really want to play for, and he was another big draw in me wanting to come here.”
Vokes played an integral role in Wales’ Euro 2016 campaign which saw Chris Coleman’s men reach the semi-final stage in France and has a proven track record in the Championship.
Two promotion winning seasons with his former side Burnley provided the frontman with the chance to prove himself in the top flight. He scored a total of 38 goals in both successful seasons for the Clarets.
“You can see how great the squad is here and it is a challenge I am really looking forward to getting stuck into,” he added.
“The Championship is a really tough league so it is all about putting together a great squad, and we have that here.
“Burnley was a huge part of my life, I really found my home there and I made a lot of good friends there, but it was time for me to move on – and what better club to do that with than Stoke City.”
