Staffs4Europe urge European Council President to leave door open for a second Brexit vote

Over a 100 UK pro Europe groups have signed an open letter to the European Council President, Donald Tusk, urging him to leave the door open for a second Brexit vote.

The campaign was coordinated by ‘Grassroots for Europe’, a network of local activists, which included Staffordshire based group Staffs4Europe.

Staffs 4 Europe (North) Chair, Mike Ottewell said: “We read the letter and agreed with the message and we were quite happy to add our names to it.

“It’s a very simple message, do not close the door on the prospect of Britain coming to it’s senses and stopping Brexit.”

Despite 69% of Stoke-on-Trent voting to leave the European Union, Mike believes that public opinion is changing.

“All the logic for Brexit is falling away everyday now and the whole program is simply collapsing under the weight of it’s own contradictions.”

Staffs4Europe (North) will be hosting Professor of European Law, Michael Dougan at the North Staffordshire Conference Centre on Wednesday.

The event will be held with the purpose of the academic offering his insights on the implications of Brexit.

With MP’S voting on May’s draft withdrawal bill on the 11th of December, the clock is ticking for pro European activists.
