Mark Heath, 45, of Marlow Road, Longton, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class B drug, and possessing a bladed article in a public place at an earlier hearing.

Heath and Joanne Smith, aged 33, were travelling in an Audi A3 when it was stopped by police in Paxton Street, Hanley, last month.

Officers discovered drugs paraphernalia, over £500 in cash, and three Samurai swords during a search of the vehicle.

Smith, of Maple Grove, in Stafford, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class B drug, and has been given an 8-month suspended sentenced and 100 hours of unpaid work.

Both were sentenced yesterday (October 18) at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
