The A50 will close both ways between Blythe Bridge and Uttoxeter this weekend due to demolition work taking place.
The road closure will be in place from 8:00pm this evening, (28 September) to the early hours of Monday morning (1 October).
The bridge, which originally carried the A522, was replaced by a new bridge nearby.
A Staffordshire County Council spokesman said: “We have done a lot of preparation so the work can be contained to a single weekend.
“The work will be around the clock and inevitably there will be some noise coming from the site.
“The expected levels have been assessed in advance by environmental health officials.”
Staffordshire County Council have said that explosives will not be used during the demolition. Instead they are opting for machinery that will break the structure down.
Staffordshire County Council is warning Stoke fans that they may face delays while travelling to the Rotherham game tomorrow.
