Stoke Potters rider Max Clegg will compete in the British U21 speedway final tonight (May 1).
Clegg was signed at the beginning of the season by the Potters after Luke Chessell’s injury.
Stoke’s number one rider said: “I feel sorry that Luke got injured but I’m looking to the challenge at Stoke.
“I like the track a lot and have scored plenty of points around Loomer Road as well as a couple of maximums and I will be looking to continue that in Potters colours this season.
“Having two clubs in Rye House in the Premiership and Stoke in the National League is perfect for me giving me extra time on the bike.”
The 21-year-old is facing tough competition going up against Great Britain international Robert Lambert and National League rider Den Bewley.
Clegg has an impressive resume himself as he made his Elite League debut at the age of just 16 as well as winning the British U19 Championship and National League Riders Championship.
He finished second in the semi-final in Eastbourne setting himself up for a promising final this evening.
The U21 final takes place at Berwick’s Shielfield Park track at 7pm.
