Police appeal for witnesses following attempted robbery on HGV in Burslem


Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery on a HGV in Stoke-on-Trent last night (January 29).

The incident happened at around 8.25pm at an industrial unit on Navigation Road in Burslem.

The HGV which contained chemicals and a quantity of mobile phones, was targeted by two masked men carrying knives.

In an attempt to escape, the HGV driver drove off and pallets of chemicals fell onto the road.

The two men escaped on foot and into a nearby waiting vehicle where they drove off in the direction of Middleport.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and deemed the chemicals non-hazardous.
