Police appeal after man robbed Longton store at knifepoint


Staffordshire Police are appealing for information after a man carried out an armed robbery at the McColls store in Longton.

The man entered the store on Heathcote Street at around 3pm on Friday (January 26) and demanded the till to be opened whilst holding a kitchen knife.

He took £200 in cash before fleeing the store and then ran up Heathcote Street and turned left across the Co-Operative car park.

The man then continued towards the rear of the Old Sal Pub and onto Forsyte Road.

No-one was hurt during the incident, but a member of staff was left shaken and upset.

The offender is described as a white male, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, approximately 16 – 20 years old, with a distinctive mark on the left side of his face.

He was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit with a black waterproof hooded coat, a baseball cap, black trainers and he put on a black balaclava before the robbery took place.
