Man charged after armed robbery at Tesco


A man has been charged with armed robbery after a large amount of cash was stolen from Tesco in Burton.

Steven Duffy, 36, of no fixed address, has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of a knife in a public place.

Duffy entered the store on Stanton Road, Burton, on Saturday night (January 20) at around 10pm, where he threatened staff with a knife before leaving with a large amount of cash.

The man was then found and arrested in a field behind Gloucester Way, Burton.

He is due to appear at Cannock Magistrates Court this morning (January 22).
