Longton Rugby captain George Glenn, believes the club are in good spirits following their recent run of positive results.
Following on from their impressive 34-15 victory in the Staffs Cup semi-final over local rivals Stoke, they then went on to record another victory, 44-14 over Doncaster and now sit 12th out of 14 in National League 3.
“It is really positive from the lads. We went through a bit of a rough patch, but the environment around the dressing room was really good, everyone remained positive.”
“So, when we did get two wins on the bounce, it has only boosted our morale for the game this weekend it’s a huge game”
Longton make the short trip to Lichfield this weekend, and will hope that they can continue their recent run of good form, against opponents who are only one place above them in the table. Glenn may be hoping for rain instead of sunny skies this weekend, as he believes that the rain plays to his side’s strengths.
“If anything, the weather plays into our favour, we have heavy, strong forwards, and we can dominate in the rain. It is perfect for us to play to our strengths”
Although Longton are on a good run, Glenn is hoping that the upcoming Christmas break won’t affect his team’s form.
“If we get a bit of a run going during the next few games, it could potentially hinder us. We do have some battered and bruised bodies though, so we will get a bit of a rest for them.
We’ll have a few training sessions over Christmas so the lads can stay fit over that period”
